"Hybrid" learning
Students will experience the support of face-to-face contact with a teacher every 5-10 days and will also access resources and support at one or more community-based sites, by phone and by e-mail. This combination of online learning and face-to-face support creates a "hybrid" school model that has the benefits of an anytime, any place cyber school and the benefits of in-person support to enhance success
Access to teaching and learning
Students and teachers will utilize the Internet
(or Coos Bay District Intranet) as a primary
means for accessing this curriculum. Students
will engage in learning primarily through
online coursework that involves self-paced,
project-based learning.
Technology will be integrated into the curriculum
and students' activities to prepare students
for the Communications Age.
Who may enroll?
A minimum of twenty-five full-time students,
grades 5-12 will be served and up to one
hundred fifty enrichment students in grades
5-12 may be receiving services at any given
time.
All students will be eligible to apply. Resource
Link will not discriminate based on age,
disability, national origin, race, marital
status, religion, or sex, according to ORS
659.850.Once twenty-five full-time students
are enrolled, a waiting list will be established
and students will be admitted using an equitable
lottery as capacity becomes available.
Part-time students and their families (or
other supporters), which will include private
school, home school, and district-enrolled
students, may request and access enrichment
resources to facilitate the "best" education
for every learner in an open access setting.
How do new students get started?
When a student is enrolled, the teacher will engage the student in appropriate assessments to determine his or her educational needs. Each student will work with a teacher to develop a personal education plan that will also serve as a contract with the learner.
